stumbling across down

In 2009 I was invited to be part of Europe in Motion — a group of European artists chosen to participate in a series of dialogues, workshops and performances. The other UK based artists were Efrosini Protopapa, Tom Dale and Gabi Reuter. Towards the end of the two weeks we had the opportunity to show some work in Theatre Kikker in Utrecht. I chose to make something new and makeshift that was a response to the Europe in Motion conversations. I called it Down (working title).

The other day I stumbled across a video of the performance. I didn’t know I had this video, but I’ve added it to the project page at skellis.net/down-working-title.

It’s got far too many in-jokes for my taste, but you can get a sense of my (then) interest in playing with the production of contemporary dance — a bit like an effort to reveal the machinations of making and presenting work.
